Title:

The main Christmas market fills the Rynek, Krakow’s vast 13th century market square. A feature of particular interest are the giant wooden barrels, dotted around the market. They sell mulled wine and provide a welcome stop to enjoy the local atmosphere.

From woollen slippers to amber jewellery, curiosities and gifts, everything you can imagine to add that little bit of sparkle to your Christmas can be bought here.

Krakow nevertheless represents a synthesis of all things Polish, connecting tradition with modernity. In the special atmosphere of the beautiful and mysterious streets of the Old Town and Kazimierz you will find everything you need to allow you to escape from everyday life. Galleries full of exhibitions, cafes, pubs and restaurants: all of this is an integral part of any visit to Krakow.

Many supermarkets are open from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. every workday. Since shops have no legally regulated opening hours, many of them are open around the clock – even on Sundays. Krakow’s famous jewellers can be found on "Royal Way", which runs from Rynek Glówny down Florianska Street and Grodzka Street to the castle.
