Built on the original structures of a former Dominican monastery of the 15th century, this unique Sicilian palace was transformed into a hotel in 1896 by Giovanni Rosso, Prince of Cerami, a descendant of Damiano Rosso, a Catanian nobleman of the princely family Rosso di Altavilla who built and then donated the monastery to the friars when he himself embraced the monastic life.
This five-star deluxe palace has since become the most famous monastery-hotel in the world.
