Valletta, Malta’s capital and World Heritage site, is nothing short of an open-air museum. It is a living, breathing monument to Baroque architecture and the incredible city-planning skills of the Knights of St John nearly five centuries ago. On this wonderful island, LUXURY TRAVEL BUTLER has tested for you the Grand Harbour experience!

The Grand Harbour experience is centred on Valletta, the Grand Harbour and the wonderful fortress cities that surround this natural masterpiece. Your base for the Valletta experience is the wonderful Phoenicia Hotel, located right outside the main gate of Valletta in 7,5 acres of mature gardens.

Throughout your stay you will be accompanied by a guide, who will be your host throughout this incredible and unique city-break experience.

Lunches and dinners will be served in some of the city’s best restaurants, beloved by locals for food, service and ambience.

Strada Stretta

You will enjoy a tour of the back streets of Valletta, concentrating on the lives of the local people.

Visit the old covered market, where Valletta residents do their daily shopping, take in the narrow streets and old wooden balconies in the various parishes of this unique city and finally end your tour in the famous Strada Stretta, the cities old red light district now filled with a wonderful collection of bars and restaurants.

You will get to dinner that night by horse drawn carriage, a common sight on the streets of Valletta and a wonderfully romantic experience.

To continue the romance the next morning, you can enjoy a romantic trip by dghajsa, a small wooden boat, across the Grand Harbour to the walled city of Birgu. Here you will wander through the winding, ancient streets with your guide soaking in the history.

Finally you make your way by boat once again to the harbor side village of Kalkara for an afternoon playing Bocci at the local club, all washed down with delicious Maltese beer.
